Longing

Longing short poem

I may not break the cords of your indifference
I may not touch the reaches of your heart
I may not function fully in the way you’d like
Nor play your dreamed of perfect partner part

When I reach out you may not always want my touch
Nor find a fascination in my words
To you I may be just the dust of daily life
A phantom heart whose dreams are never heard

But I would be the light that lifts your weary toil
The laughter in the wind of your desire
The sunlight shifting shivers down your resting arms
The tinderbox that sets your heart on fire

If you would pause and see me as I truly am
Unwrap the waiting gift that lies beneath
Then we would sail the sunset of a life transformed
United in a love beyond belief

I can't remember when I didn't write poems but as I've got older, I find they spill into my head, often at inconvenient times of the morning! I use to write them on my way to work, hence the title of my blog, but now I've given up to go trekking around in a campervan with my husband. Plenty of time to reflect on the world, though I don't claim to understand it any better....

Longing Hearts

Longing Hearts short poem

Faint is my expression, out of breath, chastised and drowned in whirl pools of confusion. Neither here nor am I there, in the clouds or the bottom of the ocean, whirl pools of confusion. A year be a day, an
