Happiness Happened With You

Happiness Happened With You short poem

I knew that look in your eyes that you gave me,
Because I’d felt it in mine.
It was a look that said we weren’t unrequited.
It was a look that set me free.
Like always you’d proved, not promised, that you adored me.
To feel needed by you made me feel safe,
As if you’d made a silent vow never to leave; never to make me wait.
I’d held your heart in my hands before, like a broken bird;
You’d removed the scars from mine so it wouldn’t hurt.
With one touch I was relieved
Of all the pain that others had caused me.
There was something about you, something that swore this would work.
That this love was honest, and this time good. It would be a first.
Once thing was certain; I’d never let you go.
Because you were utter happiness to me. You were home.
