Familiar Face

Familiar Face prose poem

Uploaded by Leanne_Bird

I look upon a face so familiar
Always the same, yet ever changing.
This day are you friend or foe?
You exist not to inform,
Nor to advise.
Your face reminds me of what was,
What is,
And what is yet to be.
In my muted consciousness your duties are blurred.
Measuring the existence which pains me.
The root of many problems.
I damn you without thought
That you give purpose to this life.
But what is stranger…
Your face, I no longer recognise – a stranger.
You spread your wings and fly
What fun I must have.
