To Let Go But Not Give Up

To Let Go But Not Give Up prose poem

Do I let go
Or do I hold on?
My heart says hold on
My mind says let go
He’s not for you
He doesn’t care
He’s heartless
He’s cold and he doesn’t love you

But my heart is feebly crying out
Please hold on
He’s the one who makes you laugh
He’s the one who loves to watch movies with you
He’s the one with the broadest smile for you
He’s the one who makes your heart beat faster
He’s the one you long to hold on to
He’s the one whose hug melts away your pain

Hold on dear one
Please hold on
Don’t let the magic die so soon
You have more sunsets to see
And more laughter to share

Let go, dear one, says my mind
He’s not there when you need him most
He flits in and out of your life
And doesn’t even know of the
Countless tears your pillow has soaked
He doesn’t hold your hand when
You are fumbling with your fears
He doesn’t know if you’re fine
Or when you are dying inside with fear

Let him go
He doesn’t deserve you
He makes you sigh
He makes you cry
He doesn’t need you in his life

I stand between my heart and mind
And watch them fight
See what this guy has done!
He has waged a war in me!

I’m stuck between being right
And doing the right thing
I watch helplessly when they fight
I know in my heart my mind is right
And I know in my mind my heart is right

Whom do I choose?
Whom do I trust?
Do I hold on?
Or do I let go?

Maybe for now I’ll let him go
But I won’t give up on him!

@meenakshi_giridhar, as matters stand, your happiness is the object of a tug-of-war between your heart and mind. The result is a compromise, to let go but not give up, which could just be pretty much the same as status quo. But no matter, you have expressed yourself so well, in a poetic manner.
