Fate short poem

Uploaded by Ramapriya Nr

Born as female child much
against their wish makes the
parents reconcile to their fate

Me lagging behind in studies
in spite of my best efforts
make parents feel like salt added to
their wound and they start
cursing their fate

Cursing me day and night for
not being good looking and finding
it difficult to find me a life partner
the parents blame each other for
the misery I brought to them and
feels fate has played a cruel role

Not being born as a Son , I constantly
face humiliation and they feel I have
deprived them of their happiness and
cause insecurity in their life and they
often blame their fate for their plight

Ami I responsible for the fate of my parents.?
Did I ask them to give birth ?
Is it my fault to have born as a female ?
How can I write my parents fate,
when I could not write my own ?.
Time for parents to introspect and stop
blaming their fate for all their short comings

A wonderful poem yet again from you Ramapriya ji, the fate of a female child, when taking birth as a girl, was not even in her hand, to be cursed day and night. for no fault of hers…….this was prevailing in our Indian society since ages…..even now some female child is abused day in and day out but thankfully our society is changing though on a slower pace…a girl child being abused by her parents made me remember that in the same way a woman is also abused for not bearing a male child when she is not even responsible for the same……felt sad …though provoking poem indeed…..
