Is It Happiness ?

Is It Happiness ? long poem

Uploaded by Ramapriya Nr

I know not what Happiness is
I suppose it must be when I was an infant
sucking mother’s breast milk in hunger

I don’t know what happiness is all about
may be what I felt when I became topper in the school

I feel I am not competent to understand what happiness is
I suppose it was the moment when I won the Prize for outstanding
achiever amongst hundreds of competitors

I really can’t define what happiness is
I feel it is when my parents shed happy
tears on me becoming a father

I do feel happiness is opposite of sorrow
which may be true when I stretched my hand to help the poor
and destitute begging for food and saw a glow on his face

I am sure happiness can be felt and not expressed
when I experienced a divine feeling while saving
someone unknown to me from jaws of death

A unique feeling while helping others
an uneasy situation while accepting favours
from others I think is how the happiness is defined

I am convinced one’s happiness lies
in overcoming the turmoils one faces in life
by fighting tooth and nail and finally emerging triumphant

Happiness will surely happen when one has
passion towards his creative skill
irrespective of whether he is accepted or rewarded
