To Thom

while your obsession with order was just on the border
and your preemptive guard around things yet unmarred
was something to, well, behold
there was a side of you
that was true
and forgiving
and somehow made room for the living
for someone so clean
it is slightly obscene
how one departs
having so carelessly
soiled our hearts
like the glass ring of joy
and the carpet stain of laughter
the sweet residue of you
on this place you blew through
will linger ever after
