I Saw You.

I saw you walking down the road
Into the mundane
Could I hold you back a little
into a diversion
a moment of indulgence
unpredictably startling
smile on your face
and a sweet memory
that will make the mundane
extraordinary..
I saw you walking down the road
Into the mundane
can I invite you
to windowshop awhile
the birds and bees
and just the commuters
on the daily train
beyond the daily papers
and the iPhone
to look at a stranger’s eyes
into the possibilities.
I saw you walking down the road
into the mundane
just this once
board the wrong train
to a different station
stare at the waters
look at the sky
Smile at a stranger
no reason why
Just this once…
surprise yourself.
