Like Cain Of Old

Like Cain Of Old short poem

Uploaded by Eldar

I placed her as a goddess above me
And gazed upon her in awe and worship
I harvested the best of me
And brought it before her in words and deeds
My very soul I placed upon her altar
My thoughts and desires were offered as her playthings
Like Cain of old, my sacrifice was refused
My love was rejected, my passion was scorned
But I have no Abel to blame
Only myself and my goddess, who still stands untouchable above me
So I sundered my heart, spilt my own blood upon the earth
And I wander bearing a mark, a deep gash where my joy used to live
Lord have mercy
Lord have mercy.
