True Lies

I have heard of new year resolutions
and have taken many, in my teens
all broken at the first chance of breaking it
but never thought of one on Easter day!

Ok, let me take one, a very simple one
that me not tell a lie, not even one
at least for a day, nor subscribe to one
that’ s all, now I can say –
will that be the biggest lie of all!

the ancient lie that ‘you will be like God’
to modern true lies that Saddam had WMD
or a lie, me forced to live with that
pakistan is my enemy, or the new ferocious lie
that me, a catholic is an enemy to ‘Sreshta Bharth’

mine stupid resolution is just
living a day, me without telling a lie
‘cause what the empty tomb taught me
is the ultimate victory of truth over lie
or to be truthful, is to resist a lie.

that was the shock of my life, really - you know, that not even a day is down without me telling a lie!! Yes, that was a bit strong to digest, but that is a TRUTH!
