Chatter Boxes

Chatter Boxes short poem

While out hiking through a wilderness cathedral enjoying the absolute peace and tranquility of Nature

A rapid duel breaks out totally destroying the peace.
A squirrel, and two stelerz jays on the opposite side of this pristine clearing are scolding one another for wilderness hierarchy.
Suddenly! A reverberating high pitched bugling echoes from across this cathedral

Stopping me in my tracks! Gracefully prancing from out of a willow thicket

On a carpet of thick rich variegated moss

A young bull elk in its prime with a massive rack of antlers in tattered velvet

A wilderness masterpiece! Yes! Indeed
The bull elk dances out onto center stage bugling continually

The chatter boxes are awe struck!

At the trailing antlers which are tickling this professional bugler’s flanks
With the sun in a perfect position

Back lighting this grand master

Head held high, the sound of a rumbling bugle

Cascading forth from Wapiti’s bellowing orchestra

Sound radiating as a cascading waterfall

As suddenly as his royal heinous made his grand entrance known

All is peaceful

Then the stillness of this grand wilderness amphitheater bursts, as a bubble!

Every squirrel from near and far, boisterously chattering, until the pair of Stelerz Jay make their exit.
