Plastic Times

Plastic Times short poem

The times we live in….
Hungry urchins with big eyes..
Mugshots of them, liked by so many…
No food tho’ in their sight,
As they trudge along, for a miracle.
It’s worth talking about, and long scoops.
But then, it’s their own destiny…

The times we live in…
Big talks on fads and gadgets
Mansions and glitter, that is sought after
Yet posts about immaterial nobility
Discourses and videos, lofty all right….
Such greatness, so easily preached…
Albeit, a bit too hard to practice…

The times we live in…
Single parents, widows, running busy,
In need of more time; more smiles..
Yet picked up on, on their virtue..
Every street has it’s own recital,
Babbles on hearsay, tickle the times,
But after all, it’s their own tragedy…

The times we live in…
Gunfire, a game, oft even on a kid’s life..
The mothers whose kids are dead alright…
Or those, whose lads are serving time..
Normal days, turning into sudden terror,
The gadget of death, can now be coolly procured…
For, that is now the worth of a life.

The times we live in…
Religion and the mystical ideologies,
Less intuitive, tho’ more fiercely debated.
Carnage and martyrs, botching the alleys,
Ambushing the innocent; on aversion for some;
Pursuit, on pitching in one’s own theory.
Ironically tho’, missing the noble scruples.

A few words strung together on inspiration, or a few thoughts penned down for clarity. A hobby that has consistently matched to represent the inspirations in me. Most often, they are from incidents and trends happening around the world, books or articles that I may parse through, or some noble cause that had greatly impressed me. I have been writing poems, and short stories, since I had been 6 years. Music and poetry walk hand in hand; good music, good poetry shall always stay my favorite pastime.

A wonderful description of modern times. Cadence is extremely good. The remorseless onslaught of man’s ambition and his warped mind wreaked havoc on common man’s life.

William Wordsworth

Very nice, Swathi.

Against The Times

Against The Times short poem

Lipped-wet, Counterfeits. Fakes neither audible nor visible. The moment dies in our hands. It was a non- happening. Silence booms destroying the palace, of dreams. I should have become the scissors. This poem is not charitable gnawing at the underlip
