Helen Of Troy

Helen Of Troy prose poem

She was considered to be the daughter of god
her beauty was praised in all abroad
she was the one with a strange innocence
with a bit of ignorance
it is believed she emerged from an egg
as her father Zeus as swan had to beg
for her mother Leda’s refuge
as he was chased by an eagle
for her putative father Tyndareus
she was the one who had to suffer
in this tale that goes further
many men desired her
when she walked wearing fur
lore has it she was chosen by Theseus
who was more perfect than the daughter of Zeus
Menelaus the king of Sparta
wanted to marry the daughter of Zeus and Leda
to get to her
she got then married to him
she then after a difficult life of grim
decided to be with Paris to Troy as wife
she had a life with laughter of her children
but meanwhile anger was in every Spartan
a thousand boats were raised
as her beauty was so praised
that a war lasted for twenty years
where there were only swords and spears
when one man named Odysseus
made a big horse with vicious intentions
filled it with his men and waited
till the Trojan came to know their victory
they celebrated for weeks and weeks
when they were at ease
attacked in that city which was in peace
now when Helen was happy
she had to see the cruelty
of the world as she was taken back
her beloved Paris was killed in that attack
away from her children
she was mad driven
this was the story of Helen
the most beautiful women

A story well told, again, yet alive and fresh.
