The Other Way

The Other Way short poem

I get up in the morning
without ever bothering
could I have got up at all

I ride the Bike amidst chaotic traffic
never ever thinking, could I ever ride again

I grab all the junk food into my stomach
without a thought that I may fall sick

I tell lies to my wife before zooming on the bike for a drinks party
without a thought she may be unaware where I would lie dead in an accident

I quarrel with the wife and leave the house in a fit of anger
without giving a thought to what would happen to her

I always feel life is all roses sans thorn
and I am ill prepared to take the pain of the thorn

I blame the almighty for all the bad things happening to me
But I fail to thank him for all the good that happened to me

I am always under the illusion that life is like a gold coin to cherish
while I forget to notice that there are two sides in the same coin to polish

Sometimes in life, you realize how self-centered you’ve been…Nicely written!

Savi Mani

nice poem, its a normal human tendency to grasp the good things without giving a second thought to what could or may happen…….we also accept the good things readily pleasantly while blame God for bad things in life which is mostly our own creations…… times of “happiness: we dont thank HIM and in times of misery we blame ‘HIM” most of us are self-centered………well written liked it……making me realise how self centered I am too at times………..sorry for coming late on this poem
