Adventures Of A Cowboy’s Hat

Adventures Of A Cowboys Hat short poem

From a peg upon the wall, in this mysterious old bunk house, I am taken.
Placed upon the balding head of a wise young cowboy. Making this jolly cowboy look bold.
With an eagle’s tail feather inserted into the band of silk, I make the owner look proud.
With an appreciative smile upon the cowboy’s face, he lifts his hat, “my stetson,” says the cowpoke.
While working the range, I always have a bird’s eye view. I’ve traveled through miles and miles of alpine flower filled meadows; with the refreshing mountain breeze caressing my crown.
I have seen many years of travel, my brow is sweat stained. This cowboy has true grit! There’s times we’ve herded cattle as it rained!
Lunch break, rolls around while searching for stray cattle. Horse and rider stop for a high country wilderness lunch. The weary cowboy removes me from atop his head to wipe his sweaty brow. I find myself being placed upon the crown of a ragged old fence post.
The rider of Cochease has a bite to eat and a cup of tea. Then removing the saddle from his horse, the saddle is set upon the ground. Cowboy lays back against his saddle to have a snooze.
All is fine, until a bird lights upon the resting stetson. Suddenly! the young rambunctious cowboy awakens to the birds forlorn song. A cowbird on a cowboy’s hat. “Come on cowboy! Put this stetson upon your head before your feathered friend does something wrong!”
Oh! The adventures of a cowboy’s hat.
Imagine that!

I wish I lived in middle earth, With wizards and hobbits and elves. Just give me a sword and a quest to fulfil, Like the heroes in the books on my shelves. I wish I had a dragon to slay,
