By Myself

I am by myself
But I am not alone.

I hear a song
From 50 years ago,
And a memory
Tiptoes through my mind.

I am by myself
But I am not alone.

I hear children laughing
And playing in a park.
And in my mind
I hear my children playing.

I am by myself,
But I am not alone.

A teenage boy and girl walk by,
Laughing and holding hands.
I smile to myself thinking,
How young we once were.

I am by myself,
But I am not alone.

A song, a laugh, a kiss
They bring memories to life.
And everyday with memories
I am wrapped in love.

I am by myself,
But I am not alone.

When sweet memories of your past are your company, how can you be alone? Nicely written!

Dear Randall a wonderful poem on being alone and yet not being alone, physically our near and dear ones may not be with us, but it is their wonderful loving memories which keeps us going, which keeps us company and we feel them always with us…… even when we are with ourselves……..they are with us………by way of the memories……….the memories which are carried with us to the grave……..the wonderful memories which we live and relive till our last breath………wonderful poem dear……..all of us may be alone but we are not……is that not………..your poem gave a different meaning to the word “alone” ………
