Beggar And The Greedy

Beggar And The Greedy short poem

Beggar begs for alms with folded hands
Corrupt demands bribe stretching his hands

Beggar begs to fill his tummy
Corrupt take bribe to blow up his tummy

People cursing the beggar throw coin at him
People fearing the corrupt give currency to him

People kick the beggar calling him a destitute
People lick the official treating him a messiah

Beggar by heart bless the donors
Corrupt by foul words curse the non-briber

Beggar begs alms for a square meal for kids and
his woman
Corrupt demands money for spending on the
other woman

Beggar gets a good sleep as he is contended
Corrupt doesn’t get a sleep as he is avaricious

Beggar has a heart to share with, what ever left
over in him
Corrupt is so greedy he snatches, even the left
over, from the beggar

Beggar is any day rich as his needs are nil
Corrupt is any day poor as his greed is endless

Wonderful comparison of the two poles on this earth – the beggar and the corrupt! Nice read!

Dear Ramapriya ji my apologies for coming so late on this wonderful thought provoking poem……..what a contrast and what a comparison….the beggar begs since he has nothing, he has to fill his own stomach and that of his family, for him quenching is hunger is of supreme importance, his needs are very minimal and at any point of time, greed is not in his dictionary……..whereas the Greedy is always hungry with greed, no mater how much he has accumulated he remains a greedy till his death…….never able to have the satisfaction, feel the satisfaction the poor beggar gets after having a full stomach……..such an eye opener poem……….awesome and superb write up………imagine a beggar becomes rich after filling his stomach, and a greedy remaining poor at the end of the day, wanting more and more!!!!!
