Magneficent Century

I was turning Eight
when I met him First
in Nineteen Fifty Eight

He looked to me so tall
while for him I was too small

His gentle smile and pat on my back
sent me straight into dizzy heights

His methodical and disciplined life
made me wonder whether my Life File
would be as precious as his Life style

His passion to keep physically fit
amidst busy schedules was a
lesson which should have made
ever the lazy one die in shame

The Love and affection he showered on his children
was akin to flow of perennial river which never gets dried up
and his sacrifices in Upbringing of his five children
was to say the least of Himalayan heights

Though he lost his Life’s shadow early
he continued his fight and conquered his plight

As years passed by I grew up inch by inch
while he stood static without growing an inch

While I surpassed his height
I could not reach his stature in thoughts and deeds

I was away from his vision for quiet a long time
but his persona was so embedded in my heart
that his image never got erased from my vision

Today on his centenary birth day
I saw him and stood static for a while
wondering can any human being be
so youthful and energetic and
so cheerful and smiling as like him at this ripe age

It was a sheer magic to see the man
decked up in groom’s suit and welcoming the guests
as if he is all set to tie the knot again.

His memory is so sharp that it makes
the wizards blink in disbelief

It was sheer delight to see this “Young man”
walking repeatedly around the dining table
asking the the guests to have food leisurely
and cutting jokes to the utter delight of all those around

It was my privilege to have got his blessings
and I bow my head with all humility and salute
this great soul for leading life worth emulating
and pray the almighty not to relieve him for ever

Wonderful poem on a person with a great persona for others…such longevity and greatness comes only when the person lives a very disciplined and happy life, and sets an example for others to look upon him and admire……
you met him as a kid of eight, his personality and his character embedded in your heart at that very young age and years later you saw the same personality ………the same trait…….setting an example for others as to how life is to be lived ……..a very inspirational poem….yes the height ,social status, wealth etc dont matter ……what matters is the real stature of a person….him being the true human…..a very rare personality indeed…………amazing…..

Back in bygone days- one might have been amazed by all the tricks and trappings of the fool now that we are here- royalty is rarely near and what has cycled in is to be cool not-with-standing out- crystal clear-

Cool To Be A 21st Century Haiku

Cool To Be A 21st Century Haiku short poem

Feels cool to be a 21st century haiku. Not bothered with others’ frowns, scoffs and sneers. Only concerned with widening some unseen folded petals of their hearts, lips and thighs. Softening their flowing molecules of love, making them feel their
