Love Sonnet 229 sonnet poems

When trophies rained upon my neighbor’s yard,
With not a trickle spilling on my lawn,
Seems that misfortune fell on me so hard,
Through nights of darkness without hints of dawn;

Time pelted me with woes that I can’t shake,
To fill my cup to fullness ever since
That day this yoke my shoulders vowed to take,
That all my brows, with salty sweats would rinse;

But lifeline bridged the sea, cast from your hands,
To fetch this castaway from raging waves,
At last in your embrace I found dry lands,
Your eyes, the guiding stars this sailor craves;

. . . . . Let trophies rain, but love is what I’ve sought,
. . . . . Or else, the bright sunshine that your love brought.

♪ ♫ Well, I guess, it could be said that if my knowledge and wisdom were converted to wealth, I may humbly say, in all honesty, that I am not a millionaire. But if out of my two cents, you would agree to accept one of it, then, I could proudly say, in all modesty, that I have done charity.♥

I expecially loved the lines ‘. Let trophies rain, but love is what I’ve sought,
. . . . . Or else, the bright sunshine that your love brought.’
