Nightfall

Nightfall over the temple grounds
A full moon expressionless without a sound
Grudgingly grants its pale luminance
Obviously tired of its nightly performance

A starry canopy of quietness and tranquility
Punctuated by harmonious chanting of such gentility
Silhouettes of monks their minds at peace
Yellow robes gently rippling in the cool night breeze

A nearby stream murmurs, seemingly in refrain
Even when full with yesterday’s rain
While cicadas proudly lend their chorus
And bullfrogs’ bellow reach the bamboo forest

From young, I have a love for the English Language and have been a voracious reader of novels, getting my fill from the British Council and later at the U.S.I.S. Clearly the writing style of UK and American authors is different. It is only about three years ago that I ventured into the world of poetry, and starting to pen my own poems. I find it gratifying and fulfilling to have an opportunity to put my thoughts, feelings and emotions into poems and haiku.

Nightfall short poem

Nightfall and fog off the lake lands. The ghostly touch of a cold and icy hand fills you full of fear and loathing. Creature of the night where are you going? I follow your shadow through the dark and cloudy

Nightfall

Nightfall short poem

Once upon these rocks Sat a maiden glowing Hair tossing wildly In the wind, just flowing But lights grew dimmer With the sun that’s setting The sky turned greyish And night started falling. Never was a night so dreary As
