Childhood Memories

Childhood Memories short poem

Climbing trees,
And the warm summer breeze.

Watching bugs on the ground creep,
While everyone’s asleep.

Spicy village chicken curry,
Living each moment without a worry,
And watching ants scurry.

The fragrance of fresh blooms,
The clouds closing in before the evening gloom.

Capturing glow worms in a bottle,
Not having to live life in full throttle.

Being wary of snakes,
Using sand to make mud cakes.

Playing with mud,
Watching cows chew the cud,
The fresh morning dew on a bud.

Sitting on a wooden swing,
Avoiding a bee sting.

Stepping on “touch-me-nots”,
Playing pranks and getting caught.

My childhood on a farmhouse,
Lead to fond memories being aroused.

Lovely memories of the farm. So sweet.

@sushantika, the one thing that stands out in your poetry is the absolute innocence of thought and expression and in today’s jaded, cynical world it is like a breath of fresh air…Wonderful writing!
