The Full Circle

The Full Circle long poem

Seeking a bride at my ripe age
Getting married amidst near and dear
feeling as a special person in the groom’s attire
Humming those romantic tunes holding her hand
experiencing the heavenly feeling at our honeymoon
decorating our little hamlet with Love and care
Eagerly returning home after the work
to get her hug and kiss
marked the Golden period in my life till then

Time elapsed, Seasons changed
we were no longer the two but four
with addition of the two children out of our union

With family strength now rising to four
my responsibility too rose two fold
nevertheless being the sole bread earner
I had a coveted place of a king at home
and my word was the Lakshman Rekha for all the three
Fulfilling the need and the demands of the Trio over the period
I did not realise that I have aged fast
with children coming of age and settling down in life
my responsibility seems to have reduced and
with a sigh of relief I happily retired from service

Now we were back as two with the other two flying away like guests
My once ravishing bride was now a grey haired, sagging skin old lady
and me, the once handsome Groom, got reduced to look like a specimen from the woods
with my dwindling earning and increased expenditure with falling health
I lost my position as King of the house and now feel as a burden to myself
I have now realised that the Life is Rosy sans responsibility
and is Thorny after fulfilling the responsibility
Life has turned full circle and I am eagerly waiting for HIS call to say adieu
to this world umpteen wonder and many times of lightening and thunder
