The Beep

It beeps and the lights turn on
My heart does a flip
My mind is filled with
Emotions of unseen uncertainty

It is the order of the event
The terror, the dread
that beep brings
It can turn my world upside down

I spiral into the familiar terrain
Of the dread, of open wounds
They never heal
But form layers deep within

Will the history repeat?
Of pain, fear and fresh scars
The fear of struggle to live again
Survive second by second to breathe

I can cross 1000 seas
Climb higher mountains
But another heartbreak
Can my heart bear it?

I do not have the courage
For I fear the misery it brings
For the pain it brings of
Fresh wounds and new scars

A message from his past
And the unreadable emotion
My heart does a flip
My mind fills with uncertainty
