His first hero, her first love

His first hero, her first love short poem

He didn’t let you shed tears
a sentinel who masked all your fears,
donned assorted roles for fun
at times a horse other times a son,
made you stand on his toes
he was the ring encircling you close,
the gift that gave you the bliss
he was the Santa you always did miss,
when in a crowd a glimpse was a fight
he was the one who raised your height,
first time you paddled without any supports
“you’re cycling on your own”, he purports,
forever he was willing to lift and carry
and you thought your weight never did vary?
when you slept and he came late
he always inquired “before sleep did she eat?”
when you learnt the art of joking
you kept repeating for he kept laughing,
when the power went off at night
you rushed to him and hugged him tight,
Superman, Spiderman, Batman shelved in a row
but he topped the list as your first superhero,
actors, singers, and the hunks you admire
but someone like him you would always desire,
this love is unconditional and is boundless
even though nature has made it cordless.

@Abhishek_Jain poignant writing and so true as all daughters and fathers will feel the way you have expressed in your verse, His first hero, her first love – A bond that is stronger than any other.

As a doting father I can relate to and appreciate the sentiments expressed in your poem. That total and unending love and devotion that only a parent and child could feel. A beautiful piece, I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Very well put together. As a daughter, I always remember him being there and yes he set the bar very high and provided me the ability and courage to follow my heart.
Thanks for putting thoughts to words.

Fail In Love

Fail In Love short poem

She was a traveling soul. The galaxy resting above her nose. I’d sit & stare. Wondering where the stars would go next. Both young & in love I let go. Tracing together swirls of color. The planets all together aligned.

Please take my hand, for I am blind. I’ve lost my path and my sense of touch. I’ve fallen, for my hands and feet are behind. Please let me hear, for all is in a hush. My wrist and ankles
