My Best Friend short poem

The sun embraced me with his long hands
he tenderly touched my face with his soft fingers.
it was so special for me to open my eyes,
I looked out through my window
there on the floor, my friend was waiting for me.
we are best of friends in this life and beyond.
on a windy evening,
when the earth was shaken with the roar of thunder.
and drenched with the flow of water,
I heard a feeble cry from somewhere near by.
it was a small puppy, completely wet in the rain.
may be a street dog,
crying for its mother
may be an orphan crying for food.
I held him in my arms
he looked on my face with gratitude.
he licked my fingers and my arms.
that was a precious moment for both.
now I am his guardian,
and he’s my guide and watchman.
we are together both in happiness and sorrow,
in adventure and in danger.
when I am asleep, he guards me as a guardian angel.
it’s my wish to be together until our last breath.

I was working as the head teacher of a high school for many years.I have written many poems in English, Urdu and Malayalam. wow what a lovely heart warming poem, loved every bit of it and felt every bit of it, when one gets back stabbed in todays phoney world, not able to trust another human being in any relation, the best friend steps in and we realize atleast he would remain faithful till his last breath………lovely poem dear Ammu
