Dirty Pretty Words

Dirty Pretty Words prose poem

Photo by h.koppdelaney

Incandescent lights stream across the stark blackened night
breathing in the intoxicating smoke swirling around you;
Deep cynical voices cackling manically rumbling through the dank dark corridors,
phosphorescent lace velvet floating in the calm cool air;
Tantalizing deep dank thoughts running through your head,
disastrous results flooding in suddenly and out of your control
A volatile stench chokes your small simple words
crashing you down on your blood soaked knees so full of scrapes;
Glitzy emerald cream smeared across your pale cool eyelids,
jet black liquid scrawled on ever so carefully from corner to corner.

Those Unsaid Words

Those Unsaid Words short poem

I learned to hold all my feelings inside until late at night. I covered my mouth with my hands so that no one could hear my tears. I perfected my fake smile. Today, after so many days, painfully enough, but
