Before Life Begins

Before Life Begins short poem

My heart isn’t as strong. But my love is for him.
It beats day by day, Until the valleys turn gold,
underneath the sun’s glorious rays. I’ll sit in the grass.
And I’ll look up at the sky. As I whisper my farewell,
and let the daylight pass by.

There will be a symphony singing, and the heavens I’ll see.
As I look back at my life. The life that could be.
But then I would hear his voice, drifting along through the wind,
Into my heart, where my love begins.

His kiss makes me awaken, from this darkness inside;
His touch sends a spark, straight through my veins, into my mind.
That’s when I’ll look up, he’s right there again. Taking me away,
with all the love that he sends.

And from there, I would forever stay close by his side,
Whenever he called, I’d come running stride-by-stride.
But my heart isn’t as strong now, as my love is for him,
And I’d whisper ‘I love you’ before my life begins.

"Your mind is the most logical choice, but your heart is the most honest decision" ~Diana CoatesSince I was a young girl, writing has always been one of my greatest passions. Every word of a poem, a book, a lyric all had great meaning. Every line said ment something a bit deeper. If you have ever sat beside a lake alone in twiglight you can catch a glimpse of serenity and tranquility. That...is when your mind is clear and your heart speaks for itself. That is where all my writing comes from.

Wonder if love begins and ends with life, or it was there long before one is born and remains long after one’s death.
