The Enlightenment

The Enlightenment short poem

I thought I would cry but I didn’t
At you in a daze I stare
bidding the last farewell
Day and night remains the pains of vanished love
Isn’t it an enlightenment,
through which I know myself so well

I thought I would avenge, but I didn’t
The very man I once loved
should he appear as lost as a child
Luxurious happiness to be treasured
about which you never cared
Isn’t it an enlightenment,
which gives you a better understanding of yourself

Ah, the heart is going to wither
as the relationship is over
If the love is merely an error
I hope the pain we are undergoing is worthwhile
With a devoted will
no complaints stand still

Ah, how painful is the enlightenment
Once, you were my whole world
As I look backward
every step of my journey
was so damned lonely
Ah, how painful is the enlightenment
Once, you were my whole world
May you rid yourself of the constraint of love
and never suffer from it anymore

Hi, everyone. I am a Chinese. Actually I am a major in bioengineering, but I developed a hobby of reading and writing English poems when I was in college. I got to know highonpoems by chance on twitter, it's a marvellous website for me and my like.

Wonderful portrayal of bitterness and pain, in the new found knowledge of truth. Still hoping for freedom for the beloved. True Love.

Very nice poem. when we lose something valuable, we think there is no more life for us. But we have to regain energy and should face the life With a new hope.

Enlightenment

Enlightenment short poem

This is my moment of… Reminiscence, reckoning, recognition Of things I had wished for Hoped for, dreamed of… They unfold themselves one by one Like blooming buds under the sun This is my moment of… Recall, recognizance, realization Of things
