Beautiful Lies

Beautiful Lies short poem

Her innocence trusted every word that was said,
Unaware to a heartbreak she was led.
Believing the sugar coated assertions that were spoken
would leave her devastated and broken.
Did not gauge her simplicity was the deceivers most useful tool,
The double dealer was taking her to be a fool
Enduring loads of pain, hurt and cries,
She realized, “I Love You” was the most beautiful of all lies.

Yes, “I love you” is the most beautiful of all lies. And beware, the devil may also bring chocolates. (lol)

This poem resurfaces the deep sense of betrayal many of us have experienced. It’s like touching an old wound that doesn’t really hurt but the mark is still intact. A beautiful lie could be more devastating than an ugly truth. @Nazima_Kachwalla this short verse speaks volumes.
