The Cock Crows

The Cock Crows short poem

Inspired by your love, I would crave to find the burning bush;
The rock that Moses stood on, covered by your hand.
And in that silent Holy bush, I kneel and make my stand
That I will love you all my days, with all my soul, with all my heart.
The cock can crow for ever.

Inspired by your love, I see the golden tree
That drips with blood from one so high.
Your blood is my blood, and my love will be.
And the cock will crow for ever.

Inspired by your love, Thomas I will never be
Ever again my Lord.
Death defied for all to see
So that, triumphant your living word
Makes sure the cock will crow forever.

I'm married, fifty seven years of age with two grown up sons. I work at the local railway station in customer service. I have always enjoyed writing poetry and short stories but for the past twenty years I have not written anything because the stream had stopped flowing and had all dried up. Lately someone had admired my recent work and opened up the log jam that had been there all that time and let the stream flow again. It is a great feeling and release.
