My Love is Like the Ocean

My Love is Like the Ocean long poem

Tumbling over
One after another
The waves crash left and right
Crossing each other
Coming together, cancelling out
Rippling white ridges of white violent foam
And yet
This is not where the real power lies

The outward grey-green breakers fall
To sand tinged white
It’s only an illusion, their rhythm
The beauty of action and movement
The superficial, the salty icing on the cake

The real power, the energy
The pull that can take you out
That can pull your legs away
That draws the floor from beneath you
That is beneath

It is the wave before it breaks
The horses of the Atlantic are slow ponies
The tidal current is deep, unseen
It is the under-toe that so amused
The Child Durrell

All dangers of the sea are below
Just ten feet and the pressure increases
Human ears defend the mind
Further down and even the oxygen
In our blood begins to shift and change
Mortal danger lurks under our kicking feet
Treading not so much water as life

On the surface, buoyancy struggles to be maintained
Smooth arms and legs co-ordinate for our part
We progress through the water
We leap and play in the waves
Screeching and screaming, mastering the Tide
But always in
Footfall and sight of land

And so, the Ocean is a wonder, a thing of beauty
It demonstrates its outward power in tidal flow
It gives us the vision of the stampeding aquine
But it does this merely to warn
To let us know we play only by its rules
Its kind benevolence, recipients of its generosity
Enjoy at your peril for like love
It will consume you

Good piece to read. True sea and love both consume us.

My Pearl Of Inestimable Value

My Pearl Of Inestimable Value ode

My Pearl of Inestimable Value Out from its obscurity in this Silence Dawn, emerged an invisible Cruelty, gabbed in terminal robe; Stealthily descended upon this blissful abode: the habitation of ‘My Pearl of Inestimable Value’ With its fangs snarling in

Unto My Sister

I am terribly shocked and remorseful My sister, can’t help than weeping at your ill-fate Transcending self to a passive onlooker Or to the role of an unmindful passenger With torn heart, tied hands, and bleeding eyes All finding acutely

My Heart Loves You short poem

My heart loves you Was it not some time ago, My heart was like a rock? An impenetrable fortress, With steep cliffs at its side, A distance land, Far away, From where no ordinary soul, Would dare to reside? I

An Love Agony At 10:30

An Love Agony At 10:30 short poem

At 10:30, Silence Dispersed, every edge withdrew with dark, The moon was pale, still brightening as diamond spark, At the tree, an owl hoot, at surface dogs barked. Sudden, I heeded, the sound of footsteps was appearing from the street, exulted
