Moments In Time

Moments In Time short poem

How do we part, with the young and the old, when lives are over?
The old with love’s left behind, and the young yet to be wise.
All bleed tears with the mourning, and sing songs to the lord,
For without God’s love, life we could not afford.
It’s a simple life plan, He put out before us,
We have no choice sings the moment, only accepting Your chorus.
And as we proceed, along a path, laid out- His plan,
Our love ones stand near, cheer us on and be glad.
When God takes away, either young or near death,
It’s a loss oh so poignant, that each end robs each one’s breath.
We’re allowed just a moment, a brief view the sublime,
Blessed with the loving, the moments in time.

"Let every word tell; Make every word count!" Those words were spoken by Ed Fike, editor of editorial page of the San Diego union newspaper in 1981, when I took his night school journalism course at San Diego City College. Mr. Fike had a profound influence on the way I approach writing. I believe he had a profound influence on everyone he met. Anyway, I did not pursue a career in journalism, but instead became a tradesman, earning my living with my hands. Writing is my hobby and pastime.
