A Make Up Verse

A Make Up Verse short poem

Its spring again, Cherry blossom’s new young a ‘showing

Brings on to my mind, your true love a ’glowing
As the flowers bloom bright, send away all the gloom
We’ll always have, the knowing

It’s spring again, all birds sing life’s love song
And us, we’ll always know, to whom we belong
As two birds of a nest, with our young all about us
We’ll always have, the knowing, our song

It’s spring again, and summers upon us again
We’ll drink our wine, make joy, love’s chagrin
As two equally one, we’ll live life for the moment
And we’ll always, have the knowing. Amen

"Let every word tell; Make every word count!" Those words were spoken by Ed Fike, editor of editorial page of the San Diego union newspaper in 1981, when I took his night school journalism course at San Diego City College. Mr. Fike had a profound influence on the way I approach writing. I believe he had a profound influence on everyone he met. Anyway, I did not pursue a career in journalism, but instead became a tradesman, earning my living with my hands. Writing is my hobby and pastime.
