Count your blessings

Count your blessings short poem

Photo by Yashna M

I do not wish to conquer the earth,
Nor do I want to fathom the sea,
I never aspire to possess the sky,
I only wish to be shown the path
to happiness doing Thy work;
Oh Lord lead me by Thy hand.

What have I done to deserve Thee,
who has entered my heart!
How could I make myself worthy
of Thy grace which Thou shower
on my worthless self.

I could never repay the debt I owe
to Thee for your kindness shown to me
in this birth or the next, Oh Lord!
So make me Thy servant in all my lives.

Mixed Blessings ode

Call me time and again an incurable romantic. accuse me offensively of revering unrealism. laugh at me heartlessly for I over-idealize you. or just leave me forlorn, if I’m gallingly tractable. but I’ve a warm, not weak, heart. I sincerely
