Summit short poem

The heart beats faster

lungs are out of breath

and I climb atop the summit

not stopping once..

People have become memories

and memories don’t haunt anymore

my body breaks into sweat

and it is very cold here..

The wind makes me shiver

legs refuse to budge

still I carry on

weight on my shoulders is overbearing..

Feel I might fall anytime

there is no one in sight

true, it is lonely at the top..

But I don’t have time to ponder

not a moment to waste

till I conquer the summit

rest, I will then

lie down, I will then

but only for a moment

cause the next summit beckons me..
