Woeful Wait

Woeful Wait short poem

Back in those old days, a wife awaits her husband on a stormy night, hoping for his safe return.

Waiting for her love, an enigmatic sailor.

In vain gowns and a luscious healthy pallor!

The porch, radiant in jewels she had adorned,

The dainty damsel, stood at the castle, forlorn..

The mysterious sea, an abyss of the night..

Winds fierce and frisking, with merry might…

Lightnings and thunder, inflaming the dark,

The night glistening, in patterns bizarre..

Haunted, by those joyful nostalgic moments..

With her beloved, she had stood at the turret

Idyllic twilight, graced by the full moon…

Their hearts enraptured, their souls attuned.

Her heart sore, clasps on that somber memory,

Bidding farewell, wishing fortune and victory!

Then the ships had glided off, yonder and away

While, she had watched, from the same turret..

Vigilant, she awaits, gazing at the Ocean,

It was time, for her paramour to return.

Her heart in pleas, for some divine miracle,

On the night, that had gone whence terrible.

A few words strung together on inspiration, or a few thoughts penned down for clarity. A hobby that has consistently matched to represent the inspirations in me. Most often, they are from incidents and trends happening around the world, books or articles that I may parse through, or some noble cause that had greatly impressed me. I have been writing poems, and short stories, since I had been 6 years. Music and poetry walk hand in hand; good music, good poetry shall always stay my favorite pastime.

On a terrible night, with lightnings flashing, it is good advice not to stand in turrets. It is prone to strikes. Enjoyable poem.
