Floating For You

Floating For You sonnet poems

My feet can’t touch the ground when you’re around
Since your smile makes me leap while your gaze
Effortlessly keeps my head in the clouds
While I’m unwittingly tied to this place.

No song lasts longer than Lynyrd Skynyrd’s
“Sweet Home Alabama” after a cold
Night of truth serums and words of inner
Desires after years of being tolled.

So now I drink myself stupid hoping
To have the next bright idea on what
I’d say now without sounding like a dope
But God damn it, girl, you’re the one I want.

I’ll step up and try, I really have to.
Giving up isn’t worth giving up you.
