Conclusion short poem

So long all my comrades
here all comes to an end

Fitting to seek absolution
for lapses I didn’t intend

Trudge deemed eternal
was fleeting in contrast

It slipped past so rapidly
not much long did it last

Rues a few, regrets some
were taken well in stride

Waited to ride big rollers
got caught in ebbing tide

Cracking varied attitudes
had my own gone awry

Conceded to harsh reality
lost my will to give it a try

Labors though persistent
dividends were not at par

Kept on at it till the very end
but bliss stayed way afar

Qualms none whatsoever
at what life had me served

Guess doled out my share
in line with what deserved
