The Unmarked Set

The Unmarked Set short poem

“the theory of the unmarked set”
she said

language linguistics geek
meets database information geek

it was love at first utterance

the fact that she’s already loved
as herself
before and after such wonderful ideas
and also my wife
was immaterial to the case

I loved the sound of it

loved the depth of what it meant
and went on meaning
on and on
through all of our human history
and through all of our possibilities

our future histories

the subtle mechanics of prejudice
and power

nailed

in that one beautiful phrase
“the theory of the unmarked set”

Ready Set Go
