Tavern Turn

Tavern Turn short poem

A tavern Simple-complex, happy-low,

A water hole full of regulars

Heartbroken, shy or smitten

Wealthy or wily smugglers.

A rustic smoking a cigar,

Passing colloquial remarks,

A skillful pianist playing,

A journey an artist embarks.

A wanderer at heart,

I could dwell in a tavern,

Turn it into a joyous shrine,

Make it an existing haven.

Heart to heart all confess,

Knowing not if it’s right,

Some lose their good senses,

While some lament on plight.

It is a dreamy haunt,

For the quaint or contemporary,

A place abundant in high spirits,

To revive the worn and weary

Explorers hold on to this dream

But should only infrequently,

A tavern is a fleeting zone,

Everyone enjoys nonchalantly.

Each being has a veiled side,

Evident in lighter moments,

The wanderer in me comes alive,

Camaraderie of the tavern relents.

An interesting poem which apparently talks about drinking in a tavern and the people who frequent it but has a much deeper meaning (Written in the sufi style of poetry) where the Tavern could represent this world and the drinkers , the various people who walk the Earth..Great work @Charu_Gulati!

Great going my poet baby.

Very beautifully written my friend! “Tavern” is one of my favorite words. The poetry took me to a Rumi envisioned rustic night, in a desert country, where travellers meet to rest a while and find something that they were not even looking for. Loved it Charu!

U turn short poem

The wind whirled, turning at a point, The bamboo leaves sounded cracking after being bent- With the “U-turn” of winding blow- There is no way to know- When the wind will change its phase- Turning to east or west? Only
