Farmer’s Tale

Farmers Tale long poem

Tilling the Piece of land of his own had a
Telling effect on his family as the life they
lived was full of happiness and Peace

Day and night of sweat and blood that he toiled
seemed to him like unearthing tons of silver and Gold

Though not seen the life of luxury and merry
he was content and happy not to feel an inch of sorry

He treated the piece of land that he owned like a God
and the daily ritual of tilling his land was his way of worship

The advent of urban growth set an eye on these fertile lands
The farmer had to part with his land for a price he had not dreamt

Little did he realise that the land which gave him all the peace
would split his peace into pieces and make his life topsy-turvy

He knew not how to cope up with the huge money
that he got in exchange of what he thought was his gold mine

He felt he could lead a dream life
without having to dream of his future life

Unknown of any other profession
he knew not how to grow or retain his money

With no preoccupation his earnings getting dwindled
while the purchaser of his land getting returns tenfold

While the farmer melt his gold to get money
the later purchased the gold to mint money

While the life of the farmer turned into misery
the life of the purchaser zoomed into heights of ecstasy

Oh! the law maker, you rise from your slumber
and make the life of the hard working farmer
a more dignified and respectable one by
giving an alternative land for him to
continue his profession and avoid making him
a burden to the very land he worshipped as God
