Rosa’s Way Out

Sweeping blood drops from her mouth, crying with anguished sobs
Rosa ran to open the door, but Owen caught her by her wrist. Why are you doing this
to me she stated? Owen hit her again with no reply. He had been drinking all day
with his friends. Rosa had been through the abuse before with him. Owen always promised to quit drinking and abusing her. Owen never remembered abusing her.
He wanted to know how she got the bruises. Rosa tried to explain to him how she was beaten by him the night before. Owen did not bother to listen . He was more interested in drinking and hanging out with his friends. Rosa told him I am leaving and being done with you. Owen just laughed as he walked out the door.
Rosa called the shelter and gathered her suitcase. She had packed all of things the night before when Owen was asleep. Rosa put on her coat with her suitcase in her hand. She opened the door and went to the right on the street. Rosa knew there was a whole new world out there for her. Owen could not find when he came home.
Where is she he wondered? Owen ran out the door and down the street.
Rosa went back to school and got a degree. She helped other women going through
abuse since she has been there herself. Owen did not quit drinking. He was driving his truck a year later. He ran a stoplight and hit a tree. Owen died instantly from the wreck.
