I Have Reasons Behind Thinking

I Have Reasons Behind Thinking long poem

We would try so hard to take each others’ pain,
But in the end it’ll all be the same.
I meant what I said, it was never meant to be a game.
And I’ll never forget the day you walked miles in the rain.
Your way with words, the beautiful things you were taught.
The night you poured your heart, I listened, you talked.
‘She’s the one I need to be with, but you’re the one I want.’
I still don’t see how I believed you, I was blinded by your talk.
When you sober up, you’ll come to your senses.
You had your wall up, and alcohol broke your fences.
‘You’re a beautiful girl, you can find someone else amazing.’
Hah! you’ve got your head in stars, but crap, I’m still gazing.
You want to save our friendship; I’ll keep my distance.
I have no reason to let your games be of existence,
Resistance, with you, that I have none.
Maybe I’ll let you have some of your fun.
Here we come, and again, you’ll complete the cycle.
‘Baby, I’ll leave her, to me you’re the only thing vital’
And now it gets real, in the end I got the answer.
Between you and a bullet, was a bottle and the answer.
This is it, this is the end, our end.
And this is the last thing you and I will ever mend.
You meant something to me, you meant more than anything.
Thank you, I love you, thank you for everything.
The time we spent together was perfect,
And I will never once say that it wasn’t worth it.
‘I’m sorry, but you and I, we can’t ever be.’
Honey, in time, you’ll be down on your knees.
Begging me again, but I don’t want you not sober.
Try again, maybe this doesn’t have to be over.
That’s funny, I don’t even want you clean.
You’re that farthest thing from loyal that I’ve ever seen.
Goodbye, dear. It was fun while it lasted.
The next time you deceive I’ll bet she doesn’t look past it.
She’ll leave you and you’ll be left with no one.
And love, in this game, I guarantee you, I’ve won.
